hat is self-esteem but words euphemistically referring to pride? Like all Chrisitans I struggle all the time with the subtleness of pride. Here is a sure-fire remedy that I've found that makes me not look towards myself for my worth, but looks to Christ. Don't look within yourself for value, Christian, look to the one who chose to make you spiritually alive (when you were spiritually comatose and unable to come to Him without the Father first drawing you) from before the foundation of the world.God did not choose you because He knew that someday you would choose Him, rather He choose you because He wanted to choose you...period. Not for any good that he saw in you, or any other reason or condition. This truth is what some people call (and rightly so) unconditional election. Once you truly see this in the Bible for yourself, then you can really enter the ring against pride with some heavy ammunition. Self-esteem bad...grace-esteem good.
So give pride a good smack to the jaw with the truths from this text: Romans 9:8-26. Click here to read it.
