a visit from the CAR director

(Adam and Rolf in front of the Chateau where our French language school meets)

Last night, the man who is serving as our organization's director for the country of Central African Republic (where we hope to serve), came to our apartment to spend the night. It was a very special visit.
We got to visit with Rolf and drill him with all our questions about CAR, and he answered them so well. Perhaps the best part of the visit was when we all sat down in the living room to look at photos on his computer. He showed us pictures of the groups who are working on Bible translation projects throughout CAR: some of these people are from other countries around the world, but many of the translators are from CAR and work for the country's Bible translation organization. After showing us photos, Rolf unfolded a large map of the country and pointed out to us where different groups are working throughout that country.

The visit left us better-informed, sobered about the work to be done, and excited to be part of this ministry that calls for the commitment of so many members of the body of Christ to work together! We realize that life in CAR will challenge us in ways we haven't been challenged yet, but we look forward to being there because we believe it's where God is calling us to be.

Reading 2 Timothy today, I was reminded of the importance of God's Word in our lives, and the power of the Spirit that works through that Word:

"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:14-17)
