learning French any way we can!

Somebody called our phone a few minutes ago. The conversation was, um, rather one-sided. I made the mistake of answering the phone, "Bonjour?" and the lady on the other end launched into an intimidatingly French monologue! In broken French, I replied that I couldn't speak much French (at least, I think that's what I said).

I tried to make out what the lady was saying and figure out how she knew that I was "Madame Huntley," but it wasn't until I hung up (I think she ended the conversation with something meaning, "I'll call you again later!") that I realized, Ah! She was probably calling about the guy who's supposed to come check our water heater. Oh well! Just continue to pray that we learn French fast and well. It's quite helpful for life here!

So how do we learn French? Any way we can! We try to have conversations with people, we use flashcards, we read books. We got a picture book that is meant for babies (and John does love it!) but it is also good for adults.
Each page has one picture and one word on it, with 137 words in all. Children's picture books are a fun way to learn another language.
