Celebrating Resurrection Day in Bangui
We had a memorable Easter Sunday with friends in Bangui. Early on Sunday morning, we had gathered for at the Bangui River for a sunrise service. As it turned out, there was enough of a fog cover that we couldn't see the sun at all.
And yet that turned out to seem appropriate. One of our fellow missionaries prayed, "Thank you, Jesus, that we know you are here even though we cannot see you...just like we know the sun is real even when we can't see it."
And the foggy sky seemed appropriate too, when our friend John read what Jesus said to Thomas after He had risen from the dead: "...blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed." (John 20:29)
It was wonderful to listen to the Gospel account of Jesus' resurrection, and to be reminded that we too will be raised one day, to live forever with Him.
After the sunrise service at the Bangui river, we enjoyed a very early breakfast with fellow missionaries.
And John and Sam had a surprising amount of fun playing with the single plastic egg that they each received from a friend.
