Two years and ten days after we headed eastward over the Atlantic to meet Africa for the first time...we got on a plane to travel westward again:
After eleven hours in the air, our view of Istanbul, the "halfway point" of our trip...
In Istanbul, although we were thoroughly exhausted by a night with no sleep, we managed to enjoy a very Turkish meal, finished off with lovely glasses of Thyme tea and exotic coffee:
And then, we slept very soundly for hours and hours in comfortable hotel beds:
The next morning, the boys drinking big cups of steamed milk while waiting for the next long flight to New York:
...and finally, tired but very happy to be done with most of the travel, at the hotel in New York City!
The following afternoon, one final (and short) airplane ride later, happy happy reunion with family members at the Charlotte airport...
Our first few days back were a whirlwind of sweet times being with family and friends we have missed!
On another note, I came across this photo from exactly two years ago today. Aren't they all so cute? And look how little and tubby Sambo is, and such a round little bald head!
