checking the book of Esther + new colleagues safely arrived!

The past week has been a blur, though mostly in a very good way. Last Tuesday, a whole lot of people descended upon our home--first, Brian and Rachel (our new colleagues) arrived with their five children to begin Sango language learning, vital to life and work here. God protected their lives and belongings when they had a bad car accident (rolled their truck into a riverbed), so we praise Him for His care for them! We've been giving them a hand settling in, including having their kids over a lot so they can unpack and get their house set up.

The same day their family arrived, the three translators and a back-translator Carnot arrived to work with Adam on checking the book of Esther in Bhogoto. They had planned for the checking to take ten days, but they all worked so intensely each day that they were able to finish the work in three days!

It was Adam's first time to do a consultant check on an entire book of the Bible by himself with a translation team, so that is a milestone.

Brian and Rachel were pretty busy getting settled in, but Brian was able to stop by and observe one of the checking sessions.

We look forward to seeing the Bhogoto team again in December, when they and Adam plan to work through a bunch of chapters of Genesis.
