dark days

In December, we left our home in Central African Republic, where we had lived for the past two years. It was a quick departure as political tensions seemed to be escalating, and we said tearful goodbyes not knowing how soon we would be back.

More recently, specifically over the past month, the situation in CAR has gotten much more serious and a week before Easter escalated to a complete overturn of the current government. There have been many dark days, filled with violence, following the president fleeing the country and the SELEKA coalition taking over power. The atrocities taking place in Bangui and around the country are deeply saddening.

As you can imagine, this situation in our African home country has been very heavy on our hearts, and constantly on our minds. Our missionary colleagues and African colleagues and friends have experienced--and are still experiencing--stresses, horrors and dangers that most of us can hardly imagine.

We've been able to reach friends in CAR on their cell phones, and we've heard how many of them have had to flee out of town to spend the night in the forest because of the danger posed by armed looters. Please continue to pray with us for those being affected by the situation in Central African Republic, and for God to bring a lasting peace to this place.
