First Sunday School Coloring Page

If you have ever taken one of your kiddos to a Sunday School before you will inevitably end up with a stack of craft items that one of the great teachers helps them with. The vast majority (in my observation) of these craft items tends to be coloring pages. This just happens to be John's first. We are now back at Grand Prairie Bible Church (our home church here in Dallas) and during the roughly 2 and a half hours that we were in Sunday School and the main service it appears that John didn't miss us at all. The toys and attention were well enough for a temporary replacement for us, which is good.

This particular coloring piece by John was unknowingly put in John's diaper bag without a word to us. So we were surprised to see it. Apparently John takes a minimalist approach to his art work....working only with one color (a subtle pastel violet) and only making a few simple strokes in one corner. Simple yet profound.

The best part about the page is the three word sentence at the bottom. In all its 16 month old Sunday School class simplicity...it is true. Jesus loves John...He gives him life, health and all that he has or will ever have. God loves him so much that if He believes in Jesus, treasures Jesus, and repents God will not give him the judgement that he deserves but will give him eternal life. Not bad for a day in Sunday school.

  1. Can't you just see this someday...

"Huntley began working with color at the age of one. The first record we have is a minimalist piece of art using only one color, demonstrating his unanticipated ability to create a remarkable piece of artwork out of practically nothing..."

  3. Yes! I was just expressing to my (big) John today the wonder of the simplicity that is in Christ! And the beautiful revelations through a lifetime based on these simple foundational truths! Give precious little John a big hug and kiss from Grandma.

    Love,
    Mom
